International Development

U.S. Agency for International Development: Organized and facilitated a conference for NGOs providing humanitarian assistance in Eastern and Central Europe to explore lessons learned.

Women for Women in Bosnia: Designed and delivered training in Bosnia on problem-solving approaches for microcredit lending program supported by The Grameen Bank.

Chemonics International: Facilitated teambuilding retreat for the Europe and NIS division to strengthen communications and problem-solving skills, as well as coordinate strategic planning.

World Learning: Created and facilitated workshops on leadership skills for NGO leaders throughout Russia.

Russian-American Program on Conflictology:  Conducted mediation and negotiation training in Russia for government officials, academics, entrepreneurs and journalists.

Conflict Resolution Resource Institute: Presented negotiations seminar in Havana, Cuba for Cuban foreign ministers, which included dialogues on U.S.-Cuban relations. Wrote article on seminar distributed by New York Times syndication.

Institute for Multi-Track Diplomacy:  Co-facilitated a dialogue group on Cuba to discuss different perspectives concerning relations between Cuba and the U.S.

FGI: Conduct needs assessment and lead training on cross-cultural communications for Lucent Technologies employees who are preparing to move oversees.

Conflict Resolution

Voice of America, USIA:  Interviewed about applying mediation to resolve international conflict on Talk to America, a television and radio call-in show that reaches 85 million people worldwide.

MCI: Conducted training for customer service personnel in Sacramento, CA, focused on improving relations with internal and external customers, and managing difficult situations.

Graduate School, USDA: Lead workshops on teambuilding, mediation, conflict theory, negotiation, cross-cultural conflict management and communications skills. Also revised Conflict Management Certificate Program.

American University, Kogod College of Business Administration: Teach course to MBA students on negotiations, teambuilding and diversity management.

Mendez England & Associates: Conduct negotiations and communications workshops for U.S. Postal Service supervisors.

District of Columbia Courts: Serve as mediator to resolve employee disputes.

D.C. Office of Human Rights:  Mediate employment discrimination cases.

Supreme Court of Virginia: Certified to mediate cases in Virginia.

U.S. Institute of Peace: Edited bimonthly Journal covering conferences, research and workshops on resolving peace. Also served as judge for National Peace Essay Contest.

National Institute for Dispute Resolution:  Consulted on producing publications and providing media relations.

Society of Professionals in Dispute Resolution, Washington, DC Chapter:   Past president of association of mediators, lawyers, academics, trainers, students and others interested in the field of conflict management.

Pennsylvania Environmental Congress:  Led workshop  on managing conflict for environmental organizations.

University of Maryland Department of Government and Politics: Designed a conflict management training program for Palestinians and Israelis using a negotiation simulation model on the Internet.

Organizational Development

National Institutes of Health: Provide organization development services, teambuilding and executive coaching to various Institutes; design and deliver conflict management training for managers; and lectured on the science of managing conflict.

American University Organization Development Department: Designing a model for creating effective partnerships between American women leaders and their counterparts from other countries.

U.S. Department of Justice Community Policing Consortium: Facilitated programs to bring together leadership teams of police departments, government agencies, community organizations and businesses to develop crime prevention strategies.

Diversity Appreciation

International Association of Firefighters:  Presented workshop on managing diversity at annual trainers conference.

Milwaukee Police Department: Led training-of-trainers program on valuing diversity and community policing.

National MultiCultural Institute: Helped coordinate conference and led workshops on multicultural education, cross-cultural conflict management, community policing and diversity appreciation.

National Public Radio: Wrote guidebook as part of a series on affirmative action and diversity in the workplace to help businesses attract, hire and retain a diverse workforce.

Arlington County Community Dialogue Project: Facilitated cross-cultural exchange between people of different cultural and racial groups to share their perspectives and experiences living in Arlington, VA.
